Capital Campaign Update February 2018

Click Here to Contribute to Hokyoji’s Capital Campaign

Dear Friends of Hokyoji Zen Practice Community,

I am excited to give you this update regarding the progress of the capital campaign to raise funds for a new Practitioners’ Hall and Dormitory space at HZPC.  To date, we have raised $472,200 towards our goal of $550,000!!  Approximately 170 donors have joined this effort to build new facilities at Hokyoji.  We are gratified for the very generous support already shown.  Thank you to everyone who has pledged to see that the Practitioners’ Hall and Dormitory space become reality.

At its January 2018 meeting, the Hokyoji Board of Directors formally approved a two-building design, which means that the functional needs of a kitchen, dining area, office, and sleeping / bath quarters will be divided into two separate buildings.  The board considered several different options and concluded this would provide the greatest viability for Hokyoji’s future.  Architect Rick Okada now is preparing the plans for the final building designs.

Groundbreaking will be in August 2018!!  Groundbreaking for the new Practitioner’s Hall and Dormitory will be held in mid-August 2018.  Please keep your eye open for further details about the date and time. Then demolition of the teahouse/kitchen, as well as the old toolshed, is scheduled. Both have served Hokyoji well for so many years and their memories will remain always. Actual construction is to begin right after Labor Day 2018.

You can help us reach our final campaign goal!!  If you have not already done so, please consider making a contribution to the Hokyoji capital campaign by going to our secure payment page or contact Hokyoji at hokyoji@hokyoji.org.

We again express our gratitude for your support of Hokyoji Zen Practice Community.

Gassho,

Marilyn Kaman
