Any group is eligible to rent Hokyoji – whether business-oriented, spiritual, or other – as long as they are aligned with our vision: to encourage a world where suffering is transformed, and joy and equanimity arise.

Engage in your special interest in a whole new way!

Hokyoji invites your group to create your own event here in our beautiful natural setting. All the facilities are available to you to create your own schedule and activities.  These facilities include a 750-square foot multi-purpose room, a commercial kitchen, meditation hall, and guest house. There are also hiking trails on both the flat  land of the valley and through the surrounding hills. Use of AV equipment is also available, free of charge. Both the Zendo and Mauss Hall are set up for Zoom participation in your meetings and events.

Together we can help you put together a powerfully meaningful experience for your participants here in this place of inspiration and renewal. The deep quiet of Hokyoji’s woods and meadows allows for new insights and experiences, reconnection with the environment, creative development and personal growth.

There is a five-person minimum to rent Hokyoji. However, private individual retreats are possible. Click here for more information.

Some examples of groups that could rent Hokyoji are: Twelve step, business, yoga, prayer, religious study, culinary, art, nature-oriented.

Hokyoji offers two main options for groups

Run your event with basic support from Hokyoji staff

When you rent Hokyoji, your group has exclusive use of all buildings and facilities, along with the entire grounds including the walking trails. You will not be sharing with any other group.  The commercial-grade kitchen is also available to you. Or at a minimal cost, Hokyoji staff can cook all your meals. If you choose to stay overnight, you may use our dorm space or camp in the meadow.

Augment your program with mindfulness teachings

Hokyoji will partner with you to create an event that focuses on mindful engagement with your group’s particular interest. As an example, the day may begin with mindfulness instruction and practice with our leadership, then move to activities led by you. After a simple vegetarian lunch and a break, we might lead a mindfulness walk along our scenic trails before returning for another activity session led by you. Then the day might close with dinner, meditation and teatime, during which participants can reflect on the day and share their insights.

This is just one example of how the day could be structured. It would all be up to you.

What is the facility usage fee?

The facility usage fee reserves use of all the buildings for your group alone. At many retreat centers several groups rent at the same time, and use of the different buildings cost an hourly rate. Hokyoji would rather make your group’s experience as easy and as private as possible. This is a one-time fee, regardless if your group stays for one night, three nights, or more. The facility usage fee also serves as your non-refundable deposit.
